What's worse than a stroke?
A few weeks after I had my stroke, I had another one. And another one. This was not a sustainable chain of events. Once my neurologist and my cardiologist were finally singing from the same hymn book, it was decided I should have heart surgery.
After the surgery, I recovered pretty damn quick, and we went back to normal--well, the new normal. My husband has a business on eBay, and he was bitching about someone leaving him neutral feedback, and I said, "That sucks. Is it as bad as three strokes and heart surgery?" My husband's stricken look and the way he fell over himself apologizing were enough to get me giggling, and his relief was palpable when he realized I was joking.
Now, no one has ever said that my husband and I don't take a joke far enough, so that began the "is it as bad as three strokes and heart surgery?" game. This list is a sample of things we have compared my strokes to:

- Ingrown toenails
In truth, none of these are as remotely bad as my stroke, but they are a reminder not to take myself (or my problems) too seriously. It can always be worse.
What about Trump getting re-elected for a 2nd term? Would that be worse than a stroke?
